1 of 1 people found the following review helpful A perfect foray into the DSLR world for beginners, September 30, 2011 By  docca - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Nikon D3100 Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm VR + Tamron 70-300mm Di Lens + 16GB Card + Filters + Case + Accessory Kit (Electronics) Disclaimer: I'm not a professional photographer, but have some experience. This is my first DSLR. Delivery was very fast, and I literally spent an hour just unwrapping and trying on all the stuff that was included in the kit. The camera itself is wonderful: right size/weight, easy controls, and extremely energy-efficient. 95% of the time, the main display is used only for displaying information about the settings. To see the "live view" as is on compact cameras, you must flip a spring-loaded switch, which is nice. There's a GUIDE/HELP setting to teach you about the controls, what they do and how to achieve good results for the subject you're photographing (e.g, how to photograph fast action, portraits, etc). It asks you a few questions, and configures the camera accordingly. If you're overwhelmed by the number of parameters, don't be: even in AUTO this camera takes some amazing photos. I've handed it to a few newbies, and they were amazed by the results... This review is from: Nikon D3100 Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm VR + Tamron 70-300mm Di Lens + 16GB Card + Filters + Case + Accessory Kit (Electronics) the extra 5 bucks well worth getting it next day after shipped. Camera is a mid grade entry level and decent quality.Everything shipped adn recieved with no blemmishes or defects. I would say I like this better than the canon T3i. The Tamron lens is great as well. I couldnt be happier with this package. Will check back here for future needs. Was nice recieving a class 10 SD card as well, since photo was a class 6. SD reader is a 150x speed reader. 202 of 205 people found the following review helpful Great Lens for Eight Bucks!, February 28, 2010 By  BeehiveHairdresser (Brooklyn, NY) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Neewer 52mm WIDE-ANGLE Lens ~INCLUDING BAG~ FOR NIKON D40 D50 D60 D70 D80 D40X (Electronics) Based off of the two reviews I was unsure how good of a lens attachment I would be receiving, but for $7.99 I threw the dice. I received this lens attachment a few short days after ordering and it screwed onto the front of my 18 to 55mm (D60) lens without any issue. (the lens attachment is made of metal and glass -- it feels good and sturdy). After taking several photos I noticed that when set to the widest angle possible the corners vignette and get blurred. For some this might be a complete turn off, for others it might mean that you just found the best accessory to add to your camera bag for eight bucks. When set to just about any setting other than the widest no vignetting is noticable. I think it's a perfect new toy for anyone willing to experiment with accessories. If you want to see what the vignetting looks like here is a link to my official review along with numerous shots that I took with this lens. This review is from: Neewer 52mm WIDE-ANGLE Lens ~INCLUDING BAG~ FOR NIKON D40 D50 D60 D70 D80 D40X (Electronics) Customer Video Review Length:: 6:46 Mins There seems to be a lot of confusion over this lens adapter. First of all, it's not a standalone lens, it's a lens adapter that screws onto the front of your existing lens. Second, the 52mm refers to what diameter filter thread this screws onto, not what focal length lens this mounts to. You can use this on any camera and lens as long as the lens has a 52mm filter thread on the front. If you want to know what diameter filter thread your lens has just look at the inside of the lens cap. It should say in there or there should be a number on the lens next to a diameter symbol that looks like this: . The lens adapter includes two pieces. They can be used together to give you a wider angle view on your existing lens, or you can just use the macro filter part to take pictures of stuff close up. As far as image quality, if you're just using the macro filter without the wide-angle adapter it looks great. Not quite as good or as powerful... This review is from: Neewer 52mm WIDE-ANGLE Lens ~INCLUDING BAG~ FOR NIKON D40 D50 D60 D70 D80 D40X (Electronics) One of my photo students brought this wide-angle lens to class and I tried it. I was impressed enough with the few shots I took that I ordered my own lens from Amazon. I tested mine on a Nikon digital SLR with an 18-55mm zoom lens and on a Canon G5 compact digital camera with a 35mm to 140mm zoom lens (35mm equiv). On the Nikon, this wide-angle lens expanded the wide-angle coverage of the 18mm focal length to something wider than 14mm. On the Canon, this wide-angle lens expanded the wide-angle coverage of the 35mm focal length to slightly wider than 28mm. The macro portion of this lens was similar in performance to my +10 diopter supplemental close-up lens (also called a close-up filter by some). After additional shots and tests, I can say without reservation--this lens produces decent quality wide-angle images and the macro portion produces decent quality close-up images. Yes, there is some darkening of the corners of the image (vignetting) and there is...
